Smiling with relief, I press the gas pedal firmly to keep the engine from stalling again, shift into gear, and head to the restaurant. On the way, I press the gas pedal confidently, enjoying the sound of the engine finally running smoothly, and shift through the gears with purpose. Now the car is under my control, and my excitement for the night is back at full speed.
