When she gets no answer, she goes inside and starts looking around. Suddenly, she is confronted by the occupant who confronts her, demanding to know why she is in his home. He does not buy Violet's excuse that she is lost and in need of help, declaring that he is an author working on a manuscript that he expects will be a bestseller, and he believes she is there to steal it. Violet denies this, but he is not willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
