She asks if there is any other way that she can work things out with this man, and she is mortified when he suggests that she strip off in front of him; only then will he consider reaching an agreement with her. Vonka is worried that North may go back on his word once he has seen her naked, but the fact is, there is nothing she can do about it other than hope that he will uphold his part of the arrangement.
